Refurb of a Land Rover Defender

Look at all the parts and stages of this Land Rover Defender refurb. It’s a big job to strip an old Defender and renovate it to the manufacturer’s standards. We transformed this Defender from dark blue to a beautiful shade of Bahama Gold with excellent results. We documented the progress in pictures to give you a little insight into what is actually involved in a full car respray of this nature.

Here’s a look at the Defender as we started to take it apart for renovation. We love to get stuck into a refurb project here at our workshop in Chesham. This type of work is really rewarding and the end results are so worth all of the hours, blood, sweat, and tears. The removable parts of the car, like the doors, are removed to be primed and painted individually.

The Bahama Gold is complemented so well by the black fittings which were also restored and painted to the manufacturer’s standard finish. We have a low-bake oven here in our workshop and our precision match paint system not only achieves the perfect colour but also the perfect finish to any lacquer coats we apply to the paintwork.

Tucked in our busy workshop this car certainly brings a summer vibe to an otherwise dreary backdrop – and look at that shine!

The team painstakingly put the Defender back together and it is soon ready to leave the workshop.
